Please remember that this round of conferences are student led and not parent \/ teacher. This means that your child must attend as they will be discussing and showcasing their learning with you.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>8-23<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We finished the presentations today which was great to see. I will do my best to get these assessed and back to you.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We will begin working on our public speaking and presentation skills as well as exploring the world of APA referencing<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>9-27<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Today we explored the world of &#8220;analogies&#8221; because after giving you the &#8220;What do you know about poetry?&#8221; quiz I realized that there were a number of missing items. This was also reflected in your editorial\/political cartoons. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vocabulary.co.il\/analogies\/middle-school\/middle-school-analogy-match\/\" target=\"_blank\">Here is a link to some practice on analogies<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Tomorrow we will be discussing the due date for the Captain Canuck project as I think it will be changed to a later date to accomodate your learning needs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Robotics<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Please have the design process completed for the &#8220;mechanical item that solves a problem&#8221; for <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Monday October 29<\/strong><\/span>. Below are the steps of the design process incase you forgot\n<ul>\n<li>Think about the task (Create a mechanical item that solves a problem)<\/li>\n<li>Write down the purpose (eg. Create\u00a0something\u00a0that moves forward in a straight line)<\/li>\n<li>Come up with your concepts\/ideas (Needs to be more than one)<\/li>\n<li>Make sketches \/ drawings of your concepts from at least two different perspectives (top, side, bottom, etc)<\/li>\n<li>Discuss the concepts with your group and select the one that is best suited to solvign your problem.
