We Survived the First Week

Well, we all survived the first week of school. Congratulations!

I have decided that I will not put up the daily agenda everyday. This is due to the fact that when we begin to do more assignments and homework in class the post will become too long and it will be hard to determine what is assigned and what we are simply working on in class. Please post comments if you agree or disagree with this as I would like to ensure that I am doing what works best for my students.

7-2

  • Think about your All About Me projects as we will continue working on them on Monday.
  • Make sure to return all of your forms please and also make sure that your parents see the letter we sent home about your year and also about reading.

7-1

  • Remember to read and follow of the instructions on assignments, projects, and tests before you begin working on them
  • We will continue the math review on Monday
  • Think about your Science & Math Visual Poetry assignment as it will be due on Thursday September 11.

Day 3

The students are starting to get into the hang of things and figure out where all of their classes are. It looks like it is going to be a really great year as all of the students are enthusiastic and excited about learning. Please remember to get all of the forms in.

Homework Sample Post

This is what a post that contains homework will look like. I will include links to assignments here such as this – Book Choices . You might also notice that there is a section on the right hand side called “Topics”. There, you will be shown all of the posts that are about one of the topics listed when you click on it.

Hum 7-2 – Make sure to spend at least 60 minutes a week reading at home. If you think about it, it is less than 10 minutes a day.

Smath 7-1 – Study for your Chapter 1 math test which will be on Tuesday September 2.

New & Improved

Well, after a very busy summer full of thought I have decided to make some more changes to the website. The largest of these changes is the new and improved homework and news section.

The reason for this change was to allow students or parents to respond to posts that I have put up. Thus, if someone is struggling with homework, an assignment, or simply has a question about one of the topics on here then they can post a comment which I can then respond to. This allows everyone to see the discussion and become informed.

The other change that I have made is to the resource section of the website so that it better reflects the needs of my students. Since teaching is an ever evolving process I have also added a teacher’s area in the resource section that contains assignments / handouts, links, and information for teachers in the hopes that someone may find something there helpful.

There is a brief tutorial located in the homework and news section of the website under “How To” explaining how to use this part of the website.

I hope that everyone has had a wonderful summer and I look forward to another amazing year. If you have any questions or comments please contact me at mrlang @ mrlang.ca.

Cheers,

Mr. Lang
