November 3, 4, & 5

7A, 7B, 7C

  • Students are at different stages. Some are finishing their 3D rendering of an object in the room and others have moved on to working through some introductory programming activities in the HTML language.

9A, 9B, 9C

  • Some students have begun to plan their own projects whereas others have started exploring different avenues such as programming, 3D designing, and robotics, as well as how to work with different materials.

October 27, 28, & November 2

Students in each class are at different stages as I am requesting / requiring that students achieve grade level expectations on each assignment / activity before moving on. As a result we some students are redoing assignments and enhancing the demonstration of their learning in specific areas. Students are not behind, but instead are simply at different stages of their learning.

LifeSkills 9-29

  • Please make sure to check HomeLogic to ensure that you have completed everything that you should have. We will be continuing discussing different types of relationships next class.

  • Some students starting thinking about a project they might want to take on this year.

October 14 -16

Please check Homelogic to see if you have any missing assignments and also read the comments to find out if you should come and discuss your learning with me.

LifeSkills 9-29

  • Continued reflecting on ourselves as individuals through an activity. This is due next class.
  • Discussed the value smiling, laughing, and thinking positively can have.
  • Finish the three sections in IRIS (Understanding Myself as a Learning, My Goals, My Strategies) for next class.

7A, 7B, 7C

  • Informed of missing assignments and are not allowed to move on until they are caught up
  • Asked to hand in planning / design work for name tag assignment once their name tag is completed, due next class.
  • Began working on some basic HTML as an introduction to programming. We are using Codecademy to do this.

8A, 8B, 8C

  • Continued working on challenge to create a prototype to improve something at Tom Baines for students and/or staff.
  • Informed of missing assignments and are not allowed to move on until they are caught up

October 5-7

Please check HomeLogic to ensure that you have handed in all of your assignments. In the next few classes you will be unable to continue until your work is complete as we are looking for mastery of skills.

Grade 7

  • Students are continuing to work on their individual name tags and are starting to use some of the hand tools.

Grade 8

  • Students are finishing their partner name tags and have begun a challenge by creating a prototype to improve something at Tom Baines for students and/or staff.

Grade 9

  • Students are finishing their partner name tags and have begun a challenge by creating a working prototype/model to solve a problem at Tom Baines.

Sept 30 – Oct 2

Handing in Digital Assignments

  • If you are submitting assignment that you did on a computer or other device please share it with me in Google Drive. You must use your CBE Google Account to share it or else I will not receive it. Please name the file with the format below and send it to [email protected]
    • Name – Block – Assignment
    • Ex. (Jeremy Lang – 7C – Challenge Reflection)

Grade 7

  • We are finishing the prototype of our name tag and starting to build them using simple supplies. Remember to bring additional items if you want to enhance the look of your name tag. Remember that this will be on display so take the time to do a good job.
  • 7A – I made a mistake and did not provide you with the due date for the Tool Research assignment. After our discussion today we have changed the due date to: Monday, October 5

Grade 8

  • We are finishing the the name tags we created for our partners and beginning to work on a Prototype Challenge.

Grade 9

  • We are finishing the the name tags we created for our partners and beginning to work on a problem based Working Prototype Challenge.

Sept 24-29

Please remember that all work handed in must include your name, block, and a title that relates to what it is that you are handing in. If you are not sure how to fix this please come and talk to me.

Assessments for the Challenge Reflections are in HomeLogic. Please remember that an S (2) means that you are currently working at what is expected of your grade level. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know especially if it is regarding how to improve your learning.

Grade 7, 8, & 9

  • Continuing to work on their name tag design thinking projects (Grade 7 – for themselves; Grade 8 & 9 for a partner)
  • Requirements of the planning and design
    • Draw / sketch your plan / design to scale.
    • Show this from two different perspectives / views
    • Include measurements of the different elements and overall size
    • Must include the name and block.
    • Maximum size is 8cm x 8cm x 3cm
