Have a Wonderful Summer

Thank you everyone for allowing me to grow and enjoy my time at Louis Riel School. I am leaving with many fond memories and I will miss all of you and the times we shared together. I wish all my students the best of luck in the years to come and to remember to keep in touch because even though I don’t teach you anymore it doesn’t mean that I won’t be able to help.

Please feel free to come visit me next year at Tom Baines as I will be in the Gold Pod.

Stay safe and have a wonderful summer.

Cheer,

Mr. Lang

Final Marks Posted

I have updated and posted all of the final marks. When you log in to see your marks click on the class you would like to see. Then, if you scroll down the page to where it shows the term marks you will notice there is another column called exam. Even though they were final projects the mark will show up in this  column providing you with a mark for your final project. You will also then be able to see a Final Grade which is made up of 30% from Terms 1,2 & 3,  and 10% from your final project.

Please note that marks may be shown differently on your report cards, in a positive way,  since some of you were on the verge of a higher letter grade and thus some allowances were made.

Thank you again for an amazing year and I will miss all of you.

Final Projects

Please remember that Tuesday June 23 and Wednesday June 24 are both half days so plan accordingly. Also, Thursday June 25 will be House Olympics Day in the afternoon.

7-1

  • Math and Science Final Projects are due on Wednesday June 24. No late assignments can be accepted. You will also have a chance to play each others board games on this day.
  • If you are finished your Science Project early then please hand it in as this will make my marking much easier come Wednesday.

7-2

  • Humanities Final Projects are due on Monday June 22. Remember that you will be sharing your book with the class so please make sure that you practice reading it. No late assignemtns can be accepted.

All Marks Updated and Final

All marks have been updated and are the final marks for term three. Please remember that there are still final projects in all of the core subjects that count for ten percent of your overall grade so please make sure that you are working as hard as you can on these so that you can keep your mark at the level where it is or improve on it.

Wednesday June 10

All core marks have been updated to reflect the approximate grade that you will be receiving for this term and it will also provide you with an idea of how you stand for the year. We are still working on final projects and will be doing so until the end of the year so make sure you put in a great deal of effort since the final projects count for ten percent of your year grade.

I will be updating option marks tomorrow once I we have finished viewing the rest of the Video Production final projects.

Tuesday June 9

Today was the last day to hand in any unfinished or late assignments from Term 3. We will soon be starting our final projects for Humanities and Smath. Friday will also be the last day for Options and the schedule will be changed for the last two weeks to reflect this.

I will try and have all marks updated on the website by tomorrow evening so that you can determine your mark for the third term.

7-1

  • Probability Math Quiz on Thursday June 11.
  • Please think about what your role is in the Oil Well as we will be continuing or discussion tomorrow and you will be working with your groups and all parties involved, citizens, government, oil company, and environmentalists, to come up with a solution.

7-2

  • It has been great to see such a keen interest from many of you about the current events and all of the issues that are happening around our world.
  • If you have any books in your locker or at home from our classroom library please make sure to return them by the end of the week. They are easy to spot as the have “LANG” written on the spine and on the inside of the front and back covers. Please make sure that we return all of these books to ensure that they are there for other students to read in the future.

Web Design – Final Project

Your final project is due by 12:30 on Friday June 5. The following week you will be given time to explore other student’s websites and see the great work that they are doing. Remember that this is your final project and as such I am expecting work of a high quality. It is important that you use all of the time you are given to make a website that is up to your true potential.

It Has Been a Great Three Years

I know it is rather informal to make an announcement as such through my website but to be honest I wanted to see how many students and parents are checking it on a regular basis.

This will be my last year at Louis Riel School as I have accepted a Learning Leader / Junior Administration position in the area of Humanities and Technology at Tom Baines school in the NW. It was a tough decision for me to make but it will be a much shorter commute and also a smart career move for me.

I will be leaving with many fond memories of the school that provided me the opportunity to begin my teaching career; make many new friends, staff, students, and parents; and learn a great deal. I hope that everyone understands my position and I wish you all the best of everything for the rest of your time at Louis Riel and in the years to come.

Students, please make sure to keep in touch with me if you ever have any questions, need help, or just want to say hi as you all know my email address. Please continue to use this website to enjoy the games as well as the resource section as many of you will find the links there helpful in the years to come.

Thank you again. It has been a great three years!

Sincerely,

Mr. Lang

P.S. – The year is not over yet so lets please work together to make sure that it is successful and fun for everyone involved.
