  • After the earthquake you have been separated from your families because of the great divide (the curtain). Today we looked at what would we need to survive in Edo Period Japan. Also remember that your questions are due on Thursday, June 13.

9-27

  • Please make sure that you have your pages read and your role ready for the literature circle discussions tomorrow. I will not see you on Thursday so this means that you are needing to work on your Dragon’s Den at home in order to be ready to present on Monday.

Monday, June 10

  • Awesome job today in our Japan simulation. It was awesome to see all of your costumes based on your roles. I was equally impressed with the quality of your Obis and hopefully you were rewarded with enough raisu.

  • Remember that you will begin presenting to the Dragon’s on Monday, June 17, one week from today.

  • We also began our Japan Scenario. Please make sure to finish your character outline for tomorrow and try to come with a part of a costume or your character or a prop that fits with your character. Also, please try to bring markers as you will need them for something that we are working on tomorrow.

9-27

  • Tomorrow is our second discussion for your literature circles. Please make sure to have your pages read and your roles completed so that you are ready to share.
  • Only six periods of class time left for you to work on your Dragon’s Den project. Remember that you will be presenting in front of the Dragon’s beginning Monday, June 17.

Monday, June 3

Yikes, its already June. I can’t believe how quickly the time goes by. I would like to remind everyone though that there is still one month left in school and that it is going to be a busy on so it is important to keep up with your work.

8-23

  • Social Studies Project final presentations begin tomorrow. We should be able to get through all of you in one day so please make sure that you are prepared.

9-27

  • Make note of the date changes for the literature circles and how got rid of one of the discussions to decrease your work load and to give you a bit more time to read.
  • Our pot is almost up to $300 for Dragon’s Den so there will be some really good prize money. Remember that tomorrow is the deadline for those of you who have not paid. If you do not pay by tomorrow you will be required to write a business letter asking the Dragon’s for an initial investment and the reasons behind it so it is probably a better idea to get your money in.

Wednesday, May 29

8-23

  • Continue working on your final Social Studies project.

9-27

  • Make sure that you are keeping up with your reading because it will catch up on you if you do not.

Monday, May 27

  • Today was day 4 and 5 of the project. Make sure that you are where you should be based on your long range calendar plan. Also, remember to fill in the work log that needs to be done for each period (day) of class time.

9-27

  • Today was a busy day. You selected your novels for the literature circles. We will discuss this more tomorrow as you will select the pages you need to read to and also the roles for each discussion.
  • Dragon’s Den – We have already secured close to $150 in funding for the Dragon’s Den. Now all we need is young entrepreneurs to come up with amazing ideas and pitch them to the Dragons. The Tom Baines Dragon’s Den will take place on Monday, June 17 so you have about three weeks to come up with your product or service and to get your business plan together. You will be competing with/against two other classes 9-26 & 9-29.
    • There is an entry fee if you wish to participate in the cash prizes. Regardless, you will still be required to present.
    • Single = $1
    • Partners  = $1.50 each  = $3.00
    • Group = $2.00 each = = $6.00
