Tuesday, February 19

8-23

  • Continue gathering information for Task 2 of the Age of Exploration Project. You will be given time tomorrow and on Thursday, but by that point you should be much closer to being finished Task 2. This might be a good way to judge how much you should be working on this at home.
  • On another note, I was super impressed by how well everyone was working today, keep up the great work.
  • LifeSkills Breakfast Club is cancelled for tomorrow because of the assembly but will happen next Wednesday instead.

9-27

  • Due date for the YCJA inquiry project has been changed to Friday, February 22. However, today was the last class time given to work on it. Tomorrow we are going to start looking at immigration.

Wednesday, February 13

8-23

  • Please work on Task 2 of the project if you are behind, but only you can be the judge of this.

9-27

  • Remember that you will given one and a bit more periods of class time on Tuesday to complete the YCJA inquiry project. As a result it will be due on Wednesday, February 20.

Robotics

  • Please finish the first three parts of the design sheet for our next class. We will discuss this further then.

Tuesday, February 12

8-23

  • Be prepared tomorrow to present your skit to the class. You should also continue working on Task 2 of the Age of Exploration project.

9-27

  • You will be given class time tomorrow to work on the YCJA Inquiry project. At the end of tomorrow’s class your group will have had 7 periods of class time that equals over 6 hours. Since each group has 5 or 6 people that means 30 to 36 people hours of time was given on the assignment. This is why it is important that you work together as a group.

Monday, February 11

8-23

  • If needed you can use a little bit of the class time tomorrow to finish up the skit for the Age of Exploration project. However, you will be given part 2 so make sure that you do not fall behind. You will be presenting the skits on Wednesday so be prepared.
  • Remember that tomorrow is Stuck on You (Fly on the Wall) so please make sure that you have your lunch so that everyone can make it out to participate.

  • Please remember your novels for tomorrow as you will be given one period of class time, or the majority of, to read.
  • You will be given the double period on Wednesday to work on the Inquiry project but that is all. The project is due when you return on Tuesday, February 19.
  • Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) quiz tomorrow. You have had lots of warning on this. Remember that there are multiple choice questions, true and false, and one short answer.
  • Since I am trying to reward you for checking the homework blog I will include a sample of one of the multiple choice questions as well as the short answer question below so that you can prepare for it. Please do not tell anyone else as they should not benefit from you checking.
    • Multiple Choice – According to the YCJA, which of the following is not a right that a young person under the age of 18 possesses when he/she is arrested?
    • Short Answer – To what extent do you think that the justice system today is fair and equitable for Canadian youth?

Friday, February 8

8-23

  • Continue to work on Task 1 of the Age of Exploration project. Remember that the due date has been changed to Wednesday, February 13. You will be given one period of class time on Monday to work on this. I would recommend coming to class with your skit finished and that way you can spend your time practicing with your group and making any last minute changes.
  • Remember your novels.

9-27

  • The YCJA quiz/test/formal assessment is still on Tuesday, February 12. There multiple choice, true and false, and a short answer question. The questions are set up in a way that will mimic the wording found on the PATs. As part of the test you will be expected to analyse a graph / chart as well as a editorial/political cartoon.
  • You will be given more time for the inquiry project. This includes a double period on Monday and Wednesday. The project is now due on Tuesday, February 19 as this is the first day back the following week.

  • Continue to work on Task 1 of the Age of Exploration project. Remember that the due date has been changed to Wednesday, February 13. The reason for this is because I will be gone for the morning of Tuesday, February 12 at a conference and therefore will not be able to assess the presentations.

9-27

  • Remember your novels tomorrow because it is Friday.
  • The YCJA quiz/test/formal assessment will be on Tuesday, February 12.
