9-27

  • Please make sure that you have your novels for tomorrow as I will be checking.
  • Today you should have finished and handed in your Chapter 2 Questions as well as the questions about the Sentencing Circles.

Thursday, January 31

January & February Scholastic Book orders are due by Friday, February 8. Please remember to make cheques payable to “Tom Baines School”

8-23

  • Continue to work on your project. You will be given one period of class time on Monday, and another on Tuesday. The project will be due by the end of the day on Wednesday, February 6.
  • Please remember your novel for tomorrow.

9-27

  • The Chapter 2 questions are due on Monday. Please see yesterdays post for more information.
  • Remember to have your novel on Tuesday and Friday classes.

Wednesday, January 30

8-23

  • You will be given one period of class time tomorrow and a double period on Monday to continue working on your plot chart/diagram and worldview connections. We will discuss the due date tomorrow.
  • Please think about what happened in class yesterday as I am still waiting for the person/people involved to apologize to the student.
  • Please remember your novels for tomorrow.

9-27

Tuesday, January 29

8-23

  • There are many of you gone at Band Camp so we are going to continue working on the project that we started today. Remember that your task is to create a plot chart/diagram that shows how the plot is circular and also that it takes place in the past and present. Along with this you will have to figure out how to show how the different Worldview’s developed for Jamal and his brother Salim.

9-27

  • Today was the last day to work on your project as at this point it was an extension. I am a bit disappointed that so many of you are not where you should be on this assignment considering we came up with due dates, criteria, and expectations together. There have been a number of you sick, away with the Philosophy group, or now at the Outdoor Ed camping trip so I have yet again extended the due date to the end of the day on Thursday, February 1. However, you will not be given anymore class time to work on it.
  • Please bring your novel to Thursday’s class as I would like to give you time to read since there is no school on Friday.

Robotics 9

  • Tomorrow we will have the official robotics challenge.

Monday, January 28

January & February Scholastic Book orders are due by Friday, February 8. Please remember to make cheques payable to “Tom Baines School”

8-23

  • Remember that you need to start bringing your novels again to classes on Monday and Thursday.
  • Please make sure that you have completed your Worldview charts as well as the list of events from the movie.

9-27

  • Since there were so many of you asking for an extension on the project I will give you class time tomorrow. The project must be handed in prior to 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30. However, I am confused by this because before the Winter break the class told me that I need to have stricter due dates and also to give less class time to work because I was giving too much. Yet, for the last two projects many of you have asked for more time.
  • Remember that you need to start bringing your novels again to classes on Tuesday and Friday. However, this week please bring it on Thursday as there is no school on Friday and I would like to give you time to read.

Thursday, January 24

Marks are updated and current based on anything that was handed in prior to today.

8-23

  • Please consider what we discussed today about plot as tomorrow you will begin to record the plot from the movie. You will also be filling out a worldview chart for Jamal. From all of this you, possibly within a group, will be trying to figure out a unique way of displaying a plot chart/diagram for the movie.

9-27

  • Another productive day. You have shown me over the last few weeks that you do have what it takes and that you can get your work done. I hope that you are realizing that when you use your class time wisely you are much more productive and your work is also likely of a higher quality.
  • Remember that you will have time on tomorrow, and Monday to finish your project. It is due at the end of the day on Tuesday, January 29.

Tuesday, January 22

8-23

  • Overall, awesome job on the presentations of the Invention / Discovery project. I hope that the rest of the work is just as impressive.
  • We began watching Slumdog Millionaire today and I asked you to think about the elements of Worldview that are apparent in the movie.
  • Breakfast Club tomorrow, so if it is your turn please make sure that you are ready to go.

9-27

  • Again, overall, I feel as though this was another very productive day for the majority of you.
  • At this point you should be finished your novel or else just finishing it and your notes should be complete. You should now begin to do your planning / outline of your plot, characters, setting, and anything else that is important to do your children’s book adaptation.

Monday, January 21

8-23

  • I have been really enjoying some of your Renaissance Invention / Discovery Children’s stories. It is clear that you have put in a great deal of time and thought into them.
  • We wil finish the presentations tomorrow.
  • If I forget please remind me to remind the class about the next Breakfast Club which is this week.

9-27

  • You continue to impress me lately with your work ethic and focus. I appreciate the change and I hope it continues. Please remember that I am available to help you during class time, before school, as well as after school.
  • I recommend that you either be finished your novel or close to finishing it for tomorrow as that would keep you right on schedule for where you should be. Remember that the entire project is due on Tuesday, January 29.
