  • For next Wednesday, October 3, please finish your paper people for Life Skills.
    • Person 1 or 6 – Words or Ideas that you come to mind when you think about Good Friends
    • Person 1 or 6 – How Good Friends make you feel.
    • Person 2 or 5 – Names of your Good Friends
    • Person 2 or 5 – Things you see Good Friends doing
    • Person 3 or 4 – Your name and decorate the person to look like you
    • Person 3 or 4 – Things you hear Good Friends say

Remember that tomorrow is the Terry Fox run. The weather may no be great so please come prepared for anything as the run will still continue. Please try to bring a donation if you are able to.

I will put in Scholastic book orders on Friday as I forgot to remind everyone.

  • Your writing assignment that we have been working on in class is due this Friday. I am collecting the assignment each day as I want to see what you are able to produce in class. You should be finished or close to being finished your first draft. I would use Thursday for doing your proof reading and editing and possibly beginning your published copy. You could then use class time on Friday to finish everything up.
  • Remember your novel on Thursday.
  • Here is a copy of the Tom Baines Worldview chart that we did together in class if you need to add more to your own.

  • I had lots of fun today with the 30 second speeches. Even though it took much longer than I was expecting I hope that you got something out of it. Please be prepared to present your rant on Thursday as there is no backing out now. You also have more time to fix everything up and make it better so use the time that you have.
  • Take a look at the mail that is sent to your or your family and examine the address to see if it fits in with what you learned yesterday.
  • Remember your novel for Friday

I handed out missing assignment and forms sheets to all the students that outstanding items. I will not do this often as it is your responsibility to check to see if you are caught up or not.

I have also arranged the desks into rows, as a result of many of the students not being able to focus when provided with flexibility with respect to the seating arrangements. I hope that they will soon realize the benefits of the other arrangements. It also took some adjusting for me as this is only the second time that I have ever had desks in this type of arrangement in the seven years that I have been teaching. We will see what tomorrow brings.

  • Anyone that was planning on making a class poster for the Pep Rally / Terry Fox run please work on it as we need it for this Wednesday, September 26. I will try and remember to remind the class tomorrow.
  • It is important that everyone comes prepared to learn with all required materials including your reading material for classes on Mondays and Thursdays.

Website Issues

I apologize as I have had some issues with the host for my website. They transfered me to a new service with an upgraded version of PHP and this, for some reason, caused issues with some of the things that I am running.   • Those of you interested in doing a homeroom poster for the Pep Rally please try and have it ready for Monday so that we can select one to use.
  • Remember to have your novel on Monday.
  • Finish the front side of the Worldview Chart. Use the intro section of the online textbook to help you with this. Click here to go directly to it. Make sure you are logged into D2L or else it will not work.

  • Today was the last day to work on your “I Am Canadian” rant. You will be presenting your rant on Tuesday September 25. Please come prepared as you will be selected in a random order.

  • At this point you should have a good idea of the elements that you are going to use for your “I Am Canadian” rant. If you are not yet at this point then I would recommend spending some time working on this at home.
  • I was disappointed that so many of you were not prepared for class today because you did not bring anything to read. Please think about this and come prepared with your book on Tuesday since there is no school this Friday.
