Monday March 19

Please remember that there is no school on Friday as it is a PD Day. School starts up again on Monday April 2.

7-01

  • I was really impressed with the overall quality of the Literature Circle discussions today. However, there were a number of you that were not prepared for the discussion as you did not complete your roles.
  • Make sure to continue reading your book as you will only be given some time on Wednesday.

8-04

  • We did not get class time today because of the Music Man. Tomorrow we will start exploring the Spanish conquest of the Aztecs.

Thursday March 15

7-01

  • Please make any last changes to your “Greatest Canadian” wikipage as we are going to be voting tomorrow.
  • Take some risks and try some poetry. If you are stuck then just write down whatever comes to your mind silly, or serious. It was great to see some of you willing to share today.
  • Remember that your roles for the literature circles are due on Monday. Please come prepared with your pages read, your roles completed, your pre-discussion done, and ready to discuss your novel so far.

8-04

  • After a day of computer glitches I have decided to make Part 3 of the Virtual Field due on Monday March 19.
  • Please make sure that you are keeping up with your work.
  • Some of you are using your music listening devices well which is great to see. We will be talking about this in a few days to see how this trial has gone.

Wednesday March 14

7-01

  • I was really impressed by the way that most groups worked together today on the Lit Circles. Please remember to have your pages read for Monday, your role completed, and also the pre-discussion done. You may want to start on your response as well.

8-04

  • It seems like more of you are taking things seriously and using more of your class time to work. I was impressed by the quality of some of your ships and the detail and thought that was put into them.
  • Remember that your Ships Logs/Journals are due on Friday March 16.

Monday March 12

Tomorrow is the last day to get your March Scholastic book orders in.

7-01

  • Please finish your Greatest Canadian wikipage for tomorrow as we are going to be doing some voting.
  • If you have your Literature Circle book please make sure you bring it tomorrow because we are going to start exploring it.

8-04

  • Virtual Field Trip Part II is due on Wednesday March 14 and Part III is due on Friday March 16. This should be enough time to complete everything if you are using your class time well and keeping up with your work. However, I know this is not the case for some of you and therefore you are going to have to work hard to get caught up.

Wednesday March 7

Scholastic book orders for March are due on Tuesday March 13.

7-01

  • I am really impressed by the quality of work that you are all producing on your wikipage. Take a look around at what your peers have been doing to try and get ideas about how you can make your page even better. I am asking that you have your wikipage completed by Monday March 12. To work on your wikipage at home go to www.wikispaces.com and log in.

8-04

  • Task Two – A Voyage Across the Sea is due on Wednesday March 14.
  • Please remember your novels for tomorrow.

Monday March 5

7-01

  • You should be finished the research for your Greatest Canadian project. If you have not yet created a wiki page please do that by going to http://www.wikispaces.com and signing in. Your username will be your student id number with “tb” in front of it (tb125432365) and your password is your student id number.
  • Remember your reading response is due this Wednesday.

8-04

  • You should be finished, or close to finishing, the research for you voyage across the sea.
  • Please remember your novels for tomorrow.

Friday March 2

March Scholastic book orders are due on Tuesday March 13.

7-01

  • Your next reading response is due on Wednesday March 7.
  • Please have all of the required research finished for the “Greatest Canadian” project so that you can continue working on your wiki on Monday.

8-04

  • Continue working on the research for Task 2 of the Virtual Field Trip from Spain to Mexico project.

Wednesday February 29

Remember that there is an early dismissal tomorrow at 12:15 because of the Grade 6 Orientation.

7-01

  • Remember that you need to try and read for an uninterrupted time of at least 20 minutes for you to be able to get into what you are reading. Most of you had no trouble doing that during the time given to you in class to read today. This is why I try to provide you with this time because at home there are so many other distractions.
  • If you feel as though you are behind on your “Greatest Canadian” research then please do some work at home. By the end of tomorrow you should be finished your research.

8-04

  • Overall, I was impressed by the quality and thought put into many of your skits. It was nice to see so many of you engaged and enjoying the skits that your classmates were putting on for you.
  • Remember to bring your novel tomorrow.
  • Please look over Task 2 of the Virtual Field Trip from Spain to Mexico so that you will be ready to go tomorrow.
