Thursday April 12

Tomorrow is team jersey / t-shirt day so remember to dress your best.

If you are interested in April Scholastic Book orders please make sure to have them in to me by tomorrow as I will be sending them in then.

Interm Progress Reports were sent home today. Remember it is your job to check the homework blogs and review your online marks to make sure everything is correct.

7-01

  • For tomorrow please finish your notes for the “Many Faces of New France” project. You should also have a start on your monologues as we will be continuing these tomorrow.
  • Literature Circle Reading Response #3 is due tomorrow Friday April 13.

8-04

  • I am very disappointed in the classes ability to stand up for each other and this resulted in some of you being very scared with the change of the due date for the Aztec Codices and Conquistador Compass project. Once this happened it was impressive by how hard the majority of you worked. However, this was short lived because as soon as I changed the due date back to tomorrow to help you out there was a great number of you that chose not to use your class time as wisely as you could have. The project is due tomorrow, Friday April 13, and must be in the hand in bin before the start of school at 8:45. If it is handed in after this time it will not be assessed but it will still be required that it is completed.

Tuesday April 10

Progress reports go home on Thursday April 12. This should not be a surprise as they are just a reflection of what you see in your online marks.

  • Think about the Many Faces of New France monologue. Try to come back with a person you would like to be if you have not already done so.

  • You may also want to do a bit of work on finding information for your Aztec Codice or your Spanish Conquistador Compass.
  • Reading Response is due on Wednesday April 4.

Wednesday March 21

It looks like some of you have already taken off early for Spring Break and that more of you will be gone tomorrow. Please have fun and  try and get some rest. A reminder that there is no school this Friday, March 23.

7-01

  • Today we finished examining the artifacts and I am asking that you finish analyzing them by answering the primary source questions about each. Please finish at least two of the three artifacts and hand this in tomorrow, March 21.
  • Please make sure hat you are prepared for the literature circle discussion when you return on Monday April 2.
  • Think about alliteration and some of the poetic devices that we discussed today to see if you can incorporate some of them into the poetry that you are writing.

8-04

  • We began talking about short stories and some of the elements involved with narratives. We brain stormed some ideas for characters and then selected one that we would like to write about. From here we worked on a questionnaire to help us develop a better understanding of the character.
  • Please continue working on your Aztec Codice and Spanish Conquistador Compass by gathering information for the topics you are selecting to do yours on.

  • It is nice to see some of you opening up to poetry and taking some risks with respect to sharing some of the work you have written as well as work from published poets.
  • Today we discussed the difference between primary and secondary sources and then used some of this information to start analyzing some artifacts. We will continue this tomorrow.
  • Please make sure to have your first journal response for the Literature Circles completed tomorrow, Wednesday March 21.

  • Today we began working on our Aztec Codices and also the Spanish Conquistador’s Compass. We are just beginning this and we will discuss the due date when we return from Spring Break.
  • Your next reading response journal entry is due on Wednesday April 4. The first week back from Spring Break.
