Thursday January 26

7-01

  • Please make sure to finish the “Who has made my life better Letter” rubric and hand it in with your letter, and all of the drafts and planning, on Monday January 30.
  • The “Canadian Stamp” project is due on Thursday February 2. You will have class time tomorrow and likely Monday to work on it. At that point you will have had six periods of class time to do so.

8-04

  • It is amazing how much more work the majority of you are able to get done when you are not distracted, when you are forced to sit away from people that you often talk to, and you are asked to be quiet.

Wednesday January 25

7-01

  • Please remember to have to printed copies of your published letter for Monday. Take a look at previous posts for more information.
  • We will talk about the quiz tomorrow as I think many of you found it difficult even though you could have any of your notes or other materials with you.

8-04

  • Today you were given time to work. For some of you that meant the questions from the textbook, due Tuesday January 31, and for others it meant working on your essay, rough/first draft due on Monday January 30.

Tuesday January 24

7-01

  • The two published copies of your letters, second draft, rough/first draft, and envelope are due on Monday January 30. On this day you will be putting your signed letter into the envelope so that we can send them out. You will also be handing in your rough/first draft, second draft, and published copy along with any of the planning that you did along the way.
  • FN Jigsaw open book / open notes quiz is tomorrow. If you have filled out your chart, completed the crosswords, presented, and listened you should not have much problem writing this quiz.
  • Reading Response #3 is due tomorrow, Wednesday January 25. You have been aware of this for a long time now so there is no reason why it should not be finished.

8-04

  • You will be provided with more time tomorrow to work on the questions from the textbook. Please see yesterdays post for information about what needs to be done for this.
  • We will continue our essays and you should have your rough/first draft of your essay finished for Monday January 30. On this day we will be continuing the writing process by doing self and peer proofreading and editing. Please make sure that you are prepared.

Monday January 23

7-01

  • Reading Response #3 is due this Wednesday January 25. You were made aware of this prior to the Winter break so there is no reason that it should not be done.
  • FN Jigsaw venn diagrams were due today.
  • FN Jigsaw open book quiz is on Wednesday January 25.
  • You should have looked through about half of Chapter two today to give you some ideas about what you could do for the “Stamp on Canada’s History” project. Make sure you are using your class time wisely or else you will end up falling behind.

8-04

  • Continue working on the questions relating to the textbook. Many of you are not using your class time wisely and therefore are likely behind. You will be given more class time tomorrow to work on this and if things go well then probably some more time on Wednesday as well. Click here to get a copy of the questions.
  • You should have the planning/outline, and two leads already finished for your persuasive essay as they were asked to be finished for today. Please user the workshops that we have done to help you with your writing and reading. This is the reason that we do the workshops.

Marks Updated

I have updated all of the marks to reflect work handed in as of Friday January 20. I will no longer accept late assignments for the First Term past Friday January 27.

Friday January 20

  • Please review the posts before for information about homework.
  • I have updated all of the marks for assignments that were handed in by the end of the day on Thursday January 19.
  • I also handed out slips of paper to let everyone know if they had any missing assignments. What surprised me is that many of you were not aware that you had not handed items in even though marks are posted soon after you hand in your work. Please think about this for the second semester.
