Thursday March 24

Good luck Mrs. Veteikis in your future teaching career; we wish you well.

7-01 & 7-07

  • Many people have been asking about the due dates for the next reading response journals and I just want you to know that you have nothing to worry about over Spring Break as we will discuss the due dates when we get back.
  • Tomorrow we will be working on finishing the published copies of our letters out, addressing the envelopes, and sending them out. Please make sure to have all of your drafts as well as your planning with you so that you can hand it all in.

Tuesday March 22

Good luck Mr. Kuwahara in your future teaching career; we wish you well.

9-29

  • Begin looking over the Dragons’ Den Project. Remember that there is real money up for grabs, possibly up to $200, but as with any entrepreneurial adventure you will need to take some business risks. Ms. Moehling’s class will also be participating in this opportunity so there will be more competition; therefore, you will need to buckle down, get organized, and work hard. We are trying to select some Dragons from around Calgary to help with our selection of Tom Baines entrepreneurs that we are going to invest in.

Monday March 21

7-01 & 7-07

  • Please have the rough draft of your inspire letter finished for Thursday March 24. I am also requesting that you edit the rough draft of your letter for this day as I have booked computers so that we can type up our final copy. I would really like to be able to get the letters sent out before Spring Break so this does not give us much time.
  • I will discuss the due dates for your next reading response journal entries when we return from Spring Break.

Friday March 18

Things have been busy at school with many teachers away, badminton starting, and the Beauty and the Beast production in full swing. I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding through this time and for not getting angry at me for not having the blog updated as regularly as it should be.

Next week will be the last week that Mr. Kuwahara and Mrs. Veteikis are joining us as their practicum experience at Tom Baines is almost over. They have been busy and I should have the marks for their projects by end of next week.

I encourage all of you to check your marks on a regular basis to ensure that you are keeping up with what has to get done and that you are also aware of how you are doing.

7-01 & 7-07

  • Continue working on your Inspiration Letters. You should have all of your planning completed, the mailing address found, and your letter started for Monday’s class.
  • I will discuss the due dates for the upcoming reading response journals with you after we return from Spring Break.

9-29

  • Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of work and the effort that went into the trunk project.
  • Lemonade Stand – At least 20 trials and the questions on the back for Monday March 21
  • Vocab Picture Dictionary is also due on Monday March 21.

Thursday March 10

I will be away Friday March 11 and returning on Wednesday March 16 as I am away at a funeral. I apologize for this disruption. However, Mr. Kuwahara and Mrs. Veteikis are continuing their lessons tomorrow and Mr. Kuwahara is here on Monday and Tuesday and is aware of what is to be completed. I have already prepared all of the required materials so everything should go smoothly.

Please make sure that you are aware of everything that you need to be completing and handing in. I also recommend that you continue to check your online marks.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

Mr. Lang

Monday March 7

I encourage all of you to think about our learning and figure out ways that you can improve it by making it your own. Think about the discussions we have had in class and also those that we had at Parent / Student Teacher Conferences.

7-01 & 7-07

  • Please remember that Mr. Kuwahara and Mrs. Veitikis are teaching this week so it is your job to stay on top of your work and to speak to them if you have any questions or concerns.
  • Make sure that you are writing down due dates and expectations into your agendas as they will not be updating this Blog.

9-29

  • Trunk project is due on Friday. You will have the next three days to work on the project in class but in order to finish in time you will have to do some work at home.

Tuesday March 2

7-01 & 7-07

  • Think about those that have inspired you and/or have made a positive difference in your life. You will be writing a letter to this person to let them know this. Remember that it can be anyone and I think many of you have thought of some wonderful people to write to. Tomorrow we will be organizing and planning our letters and trying to find an address for the person.
  • Go on to D2L and take a look at many of the awesome Truth and Torture Radio Dramas that your peers and classmates put together. Remember to take a look at at least two or three of them as we will be doing a follow up with this later on.
  • Reading Responses – 7-01Monday March 14; 7-07Wednesday March 16. 7-01 please be patient getting your marks back on this as Mr. Kuwahara was on Reading Week last week and therefore picked them up yesterday.

9-29

  • Today was the last day provided to do research on your Trunk project. You will have tomorrow, Monday, Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday next week to complete the assignment. The due date for the entire project is Friday March 11.

Thursday February 24

We had another wonderful, and successful integration day today. All grades had award and recognition assemblies. The Grade 7 students participated in a number of a different tasks in the Blue & Gold Pods; the Grade 8 students went to Caban Sucre; and the Grade 9 students spent some time examining high school registration.
