It is now a new month and a new term. Please make sure that you are keeping up with your assignments, asking for help, and making the most out of your learning. Remember about the Grrr… board!

I will be away on Wednesday and Thursday as I am camping with Band 8 and Outdoor Ed 9. Everyone knows what to do and what the expectations are so please me proud.

I have now begun posting Term 3 marks.

  • Remember about the following: Passionate Poetic Perspective due on Tuesday February 8; Truth and Torture Radio Play Script rough draft due on Thursday February 3.
  • Next Reading Responses: 7-07 – Wednesday February 2 & Wednesday February 16; 7-01 – Monday February 7 & Monday February 21.

As reminder to all of my students. Beginning Tuesday, February 1:

  • I will no longer be accepting assignments that are handed in later than one week past the due date. If you hand in an assignment after the due date you must first talk to me about the situation before I will allow you to hand it in.
  • I will be using the Grrr… Board for the following reasons: Being late to class, not being prepared for class, not handing in assignments, not using your class time appropriately. One your name appears on the Grrr… Board twice I will be making a phone call home.

7-01 & 7-07

  • The Truth and Torture annotated bibliography is due tomorrow.
  • The first draft of the Script for the Truth and Torture radio drama is due on Thursday February 3.

  • Passionate Poetic Perspective is due on Tuesday February 8. Please make sure you use your class time to work on it
  • Truth and Torture Annotated Bibliography is due on Thursday January 27. This should be more than enough time as I originally asked that it, along with the rest of your research, be completed for today.

  • Reminder about your Collective Rights Quiz on Tuesday February 1. This is the day you asked for it on so this is the day you will get it.

7-01 & 7-07

  • First Reading Reading Response for term 3 is due on Wednesday February 2 for 7-07 and Monday February 7 for 7-01. The reason for the change to Mondays for 7-01 is so that Mr. Kuwahara can assess these and he is only present on Monday and Tuesdays. We will start doing these every two weeks as you have now had a fair amount of practice to improve and also time to come and speak to me about how to improve.
  • Passionate Poetic Perspective is due on Tuesday February 8. Please make sure that you use your class time as effectively as possible to ensure that you are getting as much done during class time and so that you can receive help if and when it is needed.
  • You should been finish your Truth and Torture research today which means that you have examined four secondary and eight primary sources. You may use some of your class time tomorrow though we will be moving on to steps three and four of the project.

  • There will be a Collective Rights quiz on Tuesday February 1. I was going to have it sooner but the class decided that they would like more time to study and because of the pressure of other classes during this time. The quiz will be based on the work that we have done in class. Please note that it will not be just a regurgitation of facts as you will have to be able to show your understanding and knowledge of this topic.
  • On Wednesday January 26 we will be joining one of Mr. Baldwin’s classes in room 34 for a presenting from Judge Way. Please come quickly to class so that we can get up as soon as possible for the presentation.

Friday January 21 – News & Marks Updated

Remember that Tuesday January 25 is the last day that I will accept late assignments for the term.

For term three I will not accept any assignment that are over one week late. If you are handing in an assignment late you must first talk to me about this or else I will not accept it. The reason I am doing this is that some students are handing in numerous assignments at the end of term. These means that they are a few months late and this is not acceptable nor is it fair to me to have to mark such assignments.

However, remember that you may redo an assignment if you talk to me about it first. I want to discuss with you the reason that you would like to redo the assignment. I am much more willing to allow you to redo an assignment, and help you with it, if you did not understand what was to be done or if you struggled compared to you just choosing not to do it or hand it in on time.

All marks have been updated based on all assignments that were handed in as of 2:30 Friday January 21.

  • Another great day for most groups working on the Truth or Torture project. Remember that you will have Monday’s class to finish your research and if needed a bit of Tuesday so make sure that your group is where it should be by then.
  • We will be working on our Passionate Poetic Perspective project tomorrow so continue thinking about your poems, and how you are going to represent them.

Come prepared to present your Collective Rights Injustice project tomorrow as you have had two extra days to prepare for it. Everyone needs to be ready to go.

  • Awesome job today working on the Truth or Torture project. I know that looking at primary sources can be difficult but by discussing the sources in your group I am hoping that you are able to come up with some answers.

  • Since we had technical difficulties in class today as the server went down while we were working I decided to give you yet another day. Regardless of what happens tomorrow, it will be your last day. Be prepared to present on Friday January 21. That includes groups that have members on the Band Trip.

  • Start thinking about your Passionate Poetic Perspective project. What poems are you going to use? What perspectives are you going to take?

  • You are getting an extra day to work on the Collective Rights Injustice assignment because you asked for it, and becuase I woudl rather you do a good job then a rushed one. You need to be ready to present on Thursday January 20th. Please look over the assignment, checklist, and rubric to make sure that everything is covered.
