It was great to see everyone excited about the Integration Day yesterday. We are already looking at how we can do more of these types of days in the future and how we can improve them.

  • Lifeskills 7-01 – Please make sure to have your presentation ready for Friday January 21 so that we can share.

  • I will be marking your Collective Rights Injustice research on Monday. You were given three extra days so no excuses. You will have Monday and Tuesday’s classes to work on your performance / presentation. We will be starting the performances / presentations on Wednesday January 19.

Wednesday January 12

I am still encouraging all of you to check your marks to find out how you are doing and so that you can get in any missing assignments. Remember that you may redo most assignments if you first come and talk to me about them.

7-01 & 7-07

  • For Monday January 17 please have created a post with an artifact/document/image/reflection as well as a page in Blogger, WordPress, or D2L E-portfolio. Right now I am just trying to show you some of the tools that are available to you to use. At the end it is up to you to decide what you would like to use to do your portfolio.

  • Collective Rights Injustice project note deadline has been changed to Monday January 17 as some of you have asked for more time. We will still be starting the presentation / performance portion of the project this Friday. We are still beginning presentations / performances on Wednesday January 19.

Tuesday January 11

Please remember to return your Integration Day sign up forms tomorrow so that you will be put in the the seminar that you want. If you forget what they are then please log into D2L as they are listed in the “Announcements and Discussions” section.

Some Marks Updated

I recommend that everyone check their marks on a regular basis as there are still close to 80 assignments missing between the three classes that I teach. This averages to almost one assignment per student.

I have also changed the marks page so that you can check your marks from last term as well.

Friday January 7

7-01 & 7-07

  • Lifeskills 7-01 – Please remember to bring teen grooming advertisements (hair, skin, smell, etc) for our Life Skills class on Friday January 14.
  • Bring your Source activity advertisement, letter, receipt, etc along with a list of the things that you would be able to tell about the era, people, place, etc from the source. You should be able to come up with between 5 and 15 things. Think back to our discussion about the receipt from 1934 that we had in our class. This needs to be done and brought to class on Monday January 10.
  • Continue working on writing poems as I will be showing you the Passionate Poetic Perspective project next week. The more poems that you have written the more that you will be able to choose from.

  • You may want to do some research for the Collective Rights Injustice assignment over the weekend. You will be given time on Monday and Wednesday to do research and then I will mark this on Friday January 14 during class (Tuesday there is the second part of the Respect Ed presentation, and Thursday is an integration day). You will have then have Monday January 17 to Wednesday January 19 to work on the rest of the project. We will begin the presentations / performances on Thursday January 20.

  • Take a look at the D2L e-Portfolios and feel free to play around with them a bit.
  • 7-07 – Remember that your reading response journal is due next week and 7-01 the week after.
  • Continue working on your poetry as we are going to begin the project in the next week or two and you want to have as many poems as possible to choose from.

  • Get your e-Portfolio / Blogging forms in as I have not received many back yet.
  • You will be given two more classes worth of time to do the research portion of the Collective Rights Injustice assignment. I would recommend that you do some of this work on your own time as well.

Tuesday January 4 & Some Marks Posted

When you check your marks and you notice that there is an assignment that is marked incorrectly or showing as not handed in please talk to the teacher responsible for it. Many of you have talked to me about assignments that Mr. Kuwahara and Mrs. Veteikis have assigned and marked but I am unable to help you with this as I they did not involve me. Please talk to them when they return next week. I will input the marks from Mr. Kuwahara’s APA Referencing assignment when I receive it from him next week.
