  • Please note that the due date has been pushed forward again for your “Italian City States” project because after talking to some students I realized that you may be overwhelmed. As a result I have also decided to remove the Reading Response that was due on Wednesday. If you have already completed it then please just change the date on it and it can count for the one that is due on November 18.

  • Please make sure that you have your first/rough draft finished for Tuesday’s class, Nov 3, and that it has been proofread / edited by yourself and at least one other person. Remember to look for improving in the following areas: word choice, adjectives & adverbs = bad, parts that do not make sense or are awkward, and spelling. Please use the information that you have learned in our writing workshops to help you with this.
  • You can view all of the First Contact skits from both classes in D2L. Show off all of the cool stuff you are doing in class as you should all be proud.
  • Please make sure that you finish your First Contact question and reflection that we started today for Monday Nov 2.

  • Because you are all such wonderful students and people, and because we could not get access to the resources and technology we need, I will extend the due date of your “Italian City State” project to Wednesday November 4. Please make sure that you are also working on this at home as there is still lots to do. Remember to ask questions and get clarification if you are not sure of something or if you need help.
  • Continue working on your poems and remember that you have a Reading Response Journal due next week.

7-13 – Reading Response Journal

Your next reading response journal entry is due on Wednesday October 28. You will be writing an entry every two weeks, and always due on Wednesday.

You will not be given any class time to complete these and it is expected that they are completed on time as I try to mark them as soon as possible.

Remember that I am not interested in hearing about the story as I can read it myself. I would like you to talk about your opinoins of the story. This of course can be backed with evidence from the story or your life. Make sure to read the comments I have left on your response so that you can improve.

Please refer to your Reading & Writing Workshop duo-tang for further information on how to approach your Reading Response Journal. If you need help please come and see me well before the due date so that there is time for me to talk things over with you.

Please make sure that the first draft of your memoir is finished for class on Tuesday October  27. You have already been given multiple periods to work on it. After this we will begin working through the proof reading and editing of your work to ensure that it is in published form before we present them.

The end of the first term is fast approaching with only two weeks to go. Please make sure that you are checking your marks to ensure that they are accurate.

7-13

  • Next Reading Response Journal is due this Wednesday October 28.
  • Be prepared to present your First Contact skits tomorrow. You will have about 10 minutes to get everything organized and ready before you present. Remember the point of your skit is to answer and explain your questions.
  • The rough or draft copy of your memoir is due tomorrow. Please make sure that it is finished and with you as we will be working with it tomorrow.

  • Italian City States project is due on Monday November 2. Makes sure that you check your rubric to see how you are getting marked and also read through the assignment and its requirements so that you ensure you are able to get the best mark possible. There are many people that made did not do this on the last project which resulted in lower marks than expected for some.

Marks Updated

Please makes sure that you are checking your marks on a regular basis to ensure that the mark you have received on a project, assignments, or test is the same as the one that I have recorded. You are also able to find out which assignments or projects I have suggested for you to redo, which ones I have asked you to come talk to me about, and also which ones you have yet to hand in.

Remember it is your learning so please take charge of it.

Bend Sinister will be performing tomorrow during period 6 & 7 so please find out if your teachers will be taking you so that you know when to leave or come to the gym to watch the concert.

  • I will be collecting the textbook notes tomorrow. You have now had two extra days to finish these so there are no excuses for them not to be done.
  • Continue to work on your poetry at home and remember to have it with you during tomorrow’s class if you plan on sharing any of it.
