Wednesday Sept 30

7-13 & 7-16

  • Overall, an awesome job on the Canada Fair projects. Many of you put in a great deal of effort and it showed in the quality of your work. Mr. Mah & Mr. Petrowitsch were both very impressed with what they saw. Keep up the great work. If you forgot to bring your notes please make sure you bring them in tomorrow.

  • It is nice to see that some of you are starting to think, and I mean that in a polite way. It has been great to see the progress that many of you have made in terms of thinking about the bigger picture and purpose of what we are doing ni class. I appreciate the increased involvement and the quality of dialogue that is starting to take place in the class.
  • Middle Ages Project is due on Tuesday Oct 6. Again, this project involved thinking not just regurgitating knowledge and might be a bit tricky for you. Please make sure that you are talking to me during class time about any questions you may have or if you need some guidance or help.

7-13 & 7-16 – Canada Fair Project

Your Canada Fair Presentation will be on Tuesday September 29. This date has changed from Monday September 28 as a result of the Terry Fox Run on Thursday and a PD day on Friday. At this time you will have to have your trifold created with all of your information on it. All of the requirements of your presentation ready to go, and also your Map of Canada puzzle piece. Please make sure that you are using all of your class time effectively so that it is done on time and of a very high level. Make sure to talk to me if you need help with something.

7-13 – Reading Response Journal

Your first reading response journal entry is due on Wednesday September 30. You will be writing an entry every two weeks, and always due on Wednesday.

You will not be given any class time to complete these and it is expected that they are completed on time as I try to mark them as soon as possible.

Remember that I am not interested in hearing about the story as I can read it myself. I would like you to talk about your opinoins of the story. This of course can be backed with evidence from the story.

Please refer to your Reading & Writing Workshop duo-tang for further information on how to approach your Reading Response Journal. If you need help please come and see me well before the due date so that there is time for me to talk things over with you.

Tuesday Sept 29

  • Continue working on your Middle Ages research based on your three questions related to worldview. It is expected that you are doing some of this at home because many of you are not using your time as wisely as you could be. You should be on Day 3 or 4 tomorrow.

Monday Sept 28

Marks have been updated as of what was received by 12:30 today. Please make sure that you are looking to find out what you are missing or have not handed in as well as what has been suggested that you redo.

7-13

  • Try and get used to the weekly routine as some of you are still struggling to remember who things work in the class.
  • First Reading Response Journal entry is due on Wednesday Sept 30. You have had three weeks to get the first one finished so there are no reasons why it should be incomplete or late. Remember you will be doing one of these every two weeks.
  • Tomorrow is the last class to work on your Canada Fair Project. Please make sure that you look at the assignment and rubric so that you know what is expected and how you will get marked. You were given two extra days to complete this so I am expecting them to be pretty amazing. The fair will take place on Wednesday Sept 30.
