  • Finish Planet Earth topic questions for tomorrow
  • Make sure that you are using all of your class time to do your work because, as you have found out, you may end up having a great deal of homework if you don’t

  • Continue working on your essays as the deadline for your rough draft is Tuesday June 2. It must be ready to go for class on this day because you will be peer editing each others essays. Make sure that you are using your class time.
  • We are giving you a fair amount of time to work on your Current Events project therefore we are going to be expecting that you put in roughly four hours for each article and project. If you need help on these please make sure that you ask Ms. Sutherland or I so that we can get you going on the right track.

Monday May 25

  • Finish Rocks and the Rock Cycle questions for tomorrow. You were given the entire period to get them done so there is no reason that they should not be finished.
  • Many of you have not handed in the minerals questions which are now almost one week late. You need to start taking charge of your learning and keeping track of when assignments are due. Don’t forget to use this website.
  • Complete Math translations activity for tomorrow’s class as we will be going through it.

  • Continue working on your Current Events project and also your Persuasive Essay.

7-2 – Reading Response Journal

Your next Reading Response Journal is due on Wednesday May 20. Please make sure that you are looking at the comments that we have written to try and improve your work. If you need further help or do not understand the comments we have provided then please come and talk to us.

Tuesday May 19

  • Tuesday June 9 will be the lats day that I will be accepting any work for Term 3 since we must have our marks and comments entered by Friday June 12th. After this time students will be working on their final projects in each subject.
  • Please check your marks to see if you have any outstanding assignments.
  • Track meet tomorrow so please make sure you are either prepared to go to the meet or that you know where you will be going at school.

  • Reading Response Journal is due tomorrow. If you are going to the track meet then please hand it in before you go.
  • Continue thinking about your persuasive essay and the Current Events project as the deadline is fast approaching. Current Events projects is due on Wednesday June 3 and the Persuasive Essay is due on Thursday June 4.

Video Production

  • Thursday June 4th is the last day you will have to work on your films. This includes filming and editing as we will be watching them the following week. Any assignments that are not completed on this date will recieve a mark of zero as I will not have time to mark them.

7-1 – Planet Earth Centre Quiz

There will be a quiz on Tuesday May 19 covering all of the Planet Earth Science Centres. You will be allowed to have all of the materials from the centres with you to write the quiz. However, you will still need to review your material to ensure that you understand it.

Thursday May 14

  • Finish the area and perimeter problems that you were given today for Tuesday’s class. We will be having another quiz next week to ensure that all of you understand these very important concepts that we have recovered during the last week.
  • Again, remember that you need to take charge of your learning and if you do not understand something that you ask.

Wednesday May 13

Even though the year is quickly coming to an end I cannot stress how important it is for all students to still come to class prepared. There have been many students forgetting essential supplies such as writing tools and paper and this is not acceptable. I have also discussed a new late policy with the students so please consult them to find out what this is.

  • Make sure that you have handed in all of your work for math including the Picasso Project
  • Complete questions 1,2 and 3 on page 360 of the science text book. You will need to have this work completed for tomorrow regardless if you remembered to bring your book to class or not today.

  • Make sure to finish the first side of the math sheet that deals with perimeter and area of parallelograms for tomorrow.
  • Start looking over your Planet Earth Science Centre sheets as there will eventually be a quiz on this. Please try to get organized.

  • Make sure that you continue to think about what current events topics you would like to cover for your project and also how you might go about sharing the information.
