7-1 – Fraction Fables

Please continue working on your Fraction Fables as they are due on Friday February 20. Remember that this is the final project for our Fraction unit and therefore will be worth a fair chunk of your grade. If you need help with this then please come and talk to me.

  • Please continue working on your Fraction Fables as they are due on Friday February 20. Remember that this is the final project for our Fraction unit and therefore will be worth a fair chunk of your grade. If you need help with this then please come and talk to me.
  • You should working on Research section, Part 2, of your Heat and Temperature Project. You will be given class time this week to work on that section and also begin the Presentation portion of the project. By the end of tomorrow’s class you should be close to finishing your research. Please make sure you read the instructions and follow everything that is needed. If you do not understand something or need help please come and talk to me.

  • Think like Creative Directors and figure out how you are going to turn all of your sketches into reality for your documentary. Please try to start brining in materials that you will need for this project.
  • Remember to have your books for tomorrow’s reading and if you are still struggling with the Reading Response Journals come and talk to Mrs. Sutherland or myself so that we can help guide you.

Video Production

  • You should have finished your scripts and handed them in and now you should be working on your cartoon / illustration part of the first movie. Remember that you are being given a fair amount of time so please use it wisely and put your best effort into your work.

7-2 – Canadian Documentary Sketches

The sketches for your Canadian Documentary Project are due on Tuesday February 17. Make sure that each of your sketches is roughly half a page each. You need to include all of your backgrounds/sceneries, your costumes, and all of your props. You were given roughly five hours of class time to complete your sketches and therefore we are expecting that they are completed at a high level. Remember we are looking for effort not the best efforts.

Marks Updated

7-1 Science and Math and 7-2 Humanities marks have now been updated. Go to the marks section to see how you are doing. If you are not where you would like to be then you have a few more weeks to try and improve this before report cards.

Wednesday February 11

Please remember that there is no school Thursday, Feb 12, Friday, Feb 13, and Monday Feb 16. Classes will resume again on Tuesday February 17. The Valentine’s Dance for Grades 7-9 will be on Thursday February 19.

  • Please look over Part 1 – Investigating of your Heat and Temperature project to see if you have completed all of what is required and that the work you did was the best you can. From the majority that I saw I would suggest that most of you redo or fix up your work. The project is due on Tuesday February 24.
  • I cannot stress how important it is for all of you to get help with your math if you do not understand it. Do not wait until a quiz or a project. We are going to be moving even faster and if you do not figure out the concepts you will fall behind. Please talk to Mr. P or I if you need help or have any questions.

  • It was great to see many of you excited to read the new books that we have in our class library. Please remember that if you are reading a book that is the first in a series that you read it as fast as you can so that others will have a chance to read it also.

7-2 – Reading Response Journal

The next Reading Response Journal is due on Wednesday February 11.

In order to improve on your work please look at the example that is glued into your journal and also look at some of the sentence starter suggestions included too.

When we mark your response we are looking to see if you wrote about your feelings, thoughts, and ideas regarding what you have read. We are looking to see if you explained these feelings, thoughts, and ideas in detail and that you have provided some connection to your book and/or your life.

If you are still unsure on how to improve your work please talk to Mrs. Sutherland and I and we will do what we can to help you get your work to that next level.

7-1 – Fractions Math Quiz

There will be a Math Quiz on adding and subtracting fractions including mixed numbers and improper fractions. There will also be questions on the quiz similar to those on the first quiz. The quiz will be on Wednesday February 11. If you are struggling with a concept then please make sure that you come and get help before the quiz on Wednesday.

  • Work on the Subtracting Mixed numbers and Improper Fractions sheet.
  • Study for your Math Fraction Quiz on Wednesday February 11. If you do not understand something then it is your responsibility to come and talk to Mr. P or myself about how to do it.
  • Excellent job on your Science Fair Projects. Overall they were of a high quality which is great to see. I know that everyone in the school is enjoying looking at them.
  • The Investigating section of your Heat & Temperature project was due today but I will collect it tomorrow.

  • Reading Response Journal is due Wednesday February 11.
  • If you have not yet finished your storyboards and scripts then please do so as they were due on Friday and they are now late.
  • Your character, scenery, and prop sketches will be due on Tuesday February 17 as this is the first day back from your break. You will be given tomorrow and Wednesday’s class to finish them. Excellent job on these today in class it is great to see so many of you putting in the effort required to make them look good.

Web Design

  • Please make sure that your “What Makes a Good Website” assignment is completed. Remember you can access all of the work at home through D2L.
  • You should be working on Assignment #1. You will have next class to work on this as well.
