7-2 – Reading Response Journal

The next Reading Response Journal is due on Wednesday January 28.

In order to improve on your work please look at the example that is glued into your journal and also look at some of the sentence starter suggestions included too.

When we mark your response we are looking to see if you wrote about your feelings, thoughts, and ideas regarding what you have read. We are looking to see if you explained these feelings, thoughts, and ideas in detail and that you have provided some connection to your book and/or your life.

If you are still unsure on how to improve your work please talk to Mrs. Sutherland and I and we will do what we can to help you get your work to that next level.

Options Marks Updated

As of 11:30 PM on January 26, 2009, the Options marks for the first term have been updated. I am very impressed with how hard some of you worked and it shows in your grades. Please take a look at your marks to ensure that I have not made any mistakes as the grade you see will essentially be the grade that you will be receiving on your report card.

  • Make sure that you bring all of the materials required for the Science Fair as you will have both periods each day this week to work on it. Make sure to check the due date as we are expecting that you complete some of the work at home.
  • Math Fractions quiz tomorrow. Check the Tests & Projects section to find out what is on it.
  • If you do not have a calculator, ruler, and a pencil then you need to have one by the end of the week or there will be consequences the following week.

7-2

  • Make sure that your Story Boards are finished by the end of tomorrow’s, Tuesday January 27, class. You will have had five full periods to work on them so there is no reason that they should not be finished. If you are done then you will be able to start your scripts tomorrow.
  • Remember that you should be bringing your novel every Monday and Wednesday.

  • Please have everything that you need to start working on your Science Fair Project for Monday. You will have every Math and Science class this week to work on your project so it is expected that you do so. If you are unable to then you will be given some Math and Science work to complete at school and you can work on your Science Fair Project at home.
  • Remember about the fractions quiz on Tuesday.

  • Finish the adding and subtracting fractions questions that I assigned today. Remember to look at your notes for the steps that you should follow if you are having trouble. Also, remember to show work for any question that requires more than one step.
  • Please have your Science Fair proposals in for tomorrow so I can look over them and get them back to you for Monday.
  • Fraction Math Quiz on Tuesday January 27. The quiz will include equivalent fractions, converting mixed numbers and improper fractions, and adding and subtractions fractions. If you do not understand one of these concepts then please come talk to me before Tuesday so I can help you out with it.

  • Work on your Story Boards for the Documentary Project.
  • Next reading response is due on Wednesday January 28
  • Where Poetry Hides activity needs to be completed for Tuesday January 27 as we will be working with some of these ideas. You should have ten items that resonate with you or are important to you and the reasons why you picked them.

Video Production

  • Today was the last class to work on your videos. If you are not finished with them then please finish them over the weekend as we will be viewing them on Monday January 26 as we will not be having class on Wednesday because of a House activity.

Video Production

  • Final Movie Project is due at the end of class on Thursday January 22. This will allow us two days to view everyone’s finished products. Please make sure that you are using class time wisely so that you do not run out of time.
