Tuesday January 6
I have noticed that there are still too many students leaving the classroom during instructional time. As a result I have informed the students that they may only leave twice a week. This includes going to the washroom, getting a drink, or going to their locker to bring something they forgot. They have also been informed that in a few weeks the number will decrease to one trip a week.
Furthermore, there are still too many students that are not seeing deadlines as deadlines and are choosing to hand in work late. This is not fair to me or the other students that are getting their work in on time. More importantly though, it is not teaching the students responsibility. As a result I have decided, as of Monday January 12, to start docking the students 5% a day on any assignment that they have not handed in on time. After five days I will no longer accept the assignment as it is already being docked 25%. If students are not present on the day an assignment is due then they are expected to hand it in on the day they return to avoid any late marks.
7-1
- Today was the last class to work on your Drop of DOOOM project. Please make sure that you are working on it at home and that if you have any questions you ask before Friday since the project is due on Monday.
- You will have the rest of the week to work on your Integer Calendar project and it is due by the end of the day on Friday. Make sure that you are using your class time wisely.
7-2
- Start thinking about how you are going to approach your Canada Documentary project as we will be starting it shortly. Make sure that you choose your groups carefully as this is a long project and will likely take us close to two months to complete. Remember that you will be assessed in many different ways throughout the project so everyone needs to pull their weight.
Video Production
- Final Movie Project is due at the end of class on Thursday January 22. This will allow us two days to view everyone’s finished products. Please make sure that you are using class time wisely so that you do not run out of time.
Monday January 5
Welcome back to school. I hope that everyone had a wonderful winter break and had the opportunity to catch up on their much needed rest.

Monday Dec 15
We made it to the last week of school for 2008. Congratulations to all of my students who have put in a great deal of effort so far this year and I look forward to an exciting 2009.
Just so that everyone is aware, Wednesday will likely be the last day that much work gets finished since on Thursday I have fun activities planned for all of my classes and on Friday there is a modified timetable so there will be no regular classes.
I encourage everyone to get caught up and hand in all of the work that they are missing before they leave on Winter Break. This way you can come back knowing that you are where you are suposed to be and that you can start of 2009 with a fresh mind.
Our Christmas assembly is on Wednesday beginning at 9:00am and as a result there will not be much math or science done that day.
Please remember that all of us, including the teachers, would like to have an enjoyable last week so please remember that you are in Grade 7 or 8 not in Grade 2.
Merry Christmas,
Mr. Lang

I have updated the marks for all of the classes except for Web Design. I encourage you to log in to see your marks to ensure that I have not made a mistake. Remember the difference between me entering a 0 and a 10 is only a 1. Also, all of you should get in the habit of keeping track of your marks and keeping all assignments, projects, and tests that are handed back to you so that you have evidence of your marks.
I will try my best to have all of the rest of the marks updated by Tuesday evening.
Cheers,
Mr. Lang
