Wednesday October 19

8-04

  • We continued working on writing poetry and explored “alliteration” and its use in poetry. My hope is that everyone will begin to see poetry as something that they can enjoy and that it is not scary, or at least should not be. I am asking that everyone works on writing poetry. It does not matter the topic or style; however, I would like you to think about what your purpose is and what you are trying to express. Please do not write just because I asked you to.
  • We explored parts of “Monty Python’s Quest for the Holy Grail” to look at some aspects of the Middle Ages prior to beginning our presentations. You can find the clips we watched today on Youtube by searching for  “Monty Python’s Quest for the Holy Grail” and “Witch,” “Black night,” “Bring out your dead,” “Holy hand grenade,” and “Tale of Sir Robin.”
  • Please be read to present tomorrow because we will be continuing and finishing the presentations.

Tuesday October 18

8-04

  • Be prepared to present your Middle Ages projects tomorrow, Wednesday October 19. Make sure to look over the rubric to see what is expected. I will randomly select students to present so everyone must be ready. This is the only fair way to do it.
  • I was pleased to see how things went the second time to the Learning Commons; however, it should not take me having to bring you back to class, treat you like children, and then bring you back. I am trying to treat you like young adults but if you continue to act like children I will treat you like children. I am hoping that things continue to get better.
  • Remember to bring your novels on Tuesdays and Thursday because there were a number of you that forgot today.

Monday October 17

8-04

  • You will be given one more period of time tomorrow to finish working on your Middle Ages Project. I will check with you tomorrow to see if we need another day. I am hoping that everyone will be okay with the time given. However, we will most likely still be presenting the projects on Wednesday October 19. Please, please, please check the assignment sheet and rubric so that you can do that best possible job on your project.
  • Remember to have your novel for tomorrow please. I will also be discussing the first Reading Response Journal entry with you as it is due on Thursday October 27. You will be given a double period tomorrow to continue this but on Monday October 17 you should be prepared to start working on your presentation.
