I am a bit behind in my marking and I will due my best to be caught up with everything being marked by Monday October 25. Thank you for your patience.

7-01 & 7-07

  • Please remember the due dates for your Reading Response Journals. 7-01’s next response is due on Wednesday October 27, and 7-07’s next response is due on Wednesday November 3.
  • Make sure that your Canada Fair reflection is handed in since it was due on Monday, which means it is already two days late, and a number of you have not yet handed it in.
  • I am disappointed that many of you are still forgetting to come to class prepared with all of your required materials. This includes your novels on Mondays and Wednesdays.
  • If you feel like you are falling behind on your Memoir then please take it home to work on it. You will be given more class time tomorrow but the hope is that your first draft is finished for Tuesday October 26.

7-01 & 7-07

  • Awesome job today on the Canada Fair today. I was impressed by the amount of work that many of you put into this project. Please hand in your Canada Map Puzzle Piece tomorrow, Friday October 15, and also all of your notes.
  • If you feel as though you are falling behind on your memoirs then you may want to bring them home to work on them a bit. However, you will be given more class time to work on them, at least two days so be aware of this.

  • Many of you continue to impress me with your work ethic and the quality of the work that you are producing. Keep up the great work and make sure that you are not falling behind.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful long weekend and that you were able to get some rest and relaxation in even though I know that some of you were working on your projects.

7-01

  • Canada Fair is tomorrow and it will take place for you during period 4. Please make sure you come to class prepared as we will be heading down to the Learning Commons right away to set up. You will have about 5 minutes to set up before the fair begins.
  • Canada Map Puzzle Piece is due on Friday October 15. Please take a look at one of the earlier posts to see everything that needs to be included on it if you do not remember.
  • Your first Reading Response Journal entry was due today. Please use your agenda so that you stay on top of all of your assignments.

7-07

  • Continue to think about the video clip we watched today about how bills are passed and turned into laws.

Please make sure that you have your trifold and any other materials that you require, to try to convince others to move to your province or territory, on this day. You will be given one class period of time on Wednesday October 13 to finish up and final touches that you need to make.

7-01 & 7-07

  • Continue working on the Canada Fair project. Tomorrow will likely be the last class period given to the project. I will also let you know the date that the fair will happen on so that you can have everything together and ready to go for this day. The items that you need to include on your Canada Map puzzle piece are: name of province or territory, capital city and other major cities, flag, population, main industries (eg, fishing, forestry, oil & gas, tourism, technology, manufacturing, farming, etc), and anything else that you think should be put on there. Remember that if your puzzle piece is to small to put the information on then put it on a separate sheet and we will put an arrow to point to it.
  • Remember to bring your novels on Monday and Tuesday classes. Some of you are forgetting which is going to make it very difficult for you to do your reading response entries. Make sure you are aware of when your first one is due.

  • Captain Canuck is due on Wednesday October 13. Please ask for assistance today or tomorrow if you need it because after that you are on your own.

Your teachers are reasonable people and we understand that you are busy and have live outside of school. However, it is not acceptable to show up the day an assignment is due and say that you did not have enough time and request more time. If you know you are going to be busy or can not get an assignment done on time then you need to approach your teacher as soon as you realize this so that we can make other arrangements. Please start taking more initiative and responsibility for your learning.

7-01 & 7-07

  • Continue working on your Canada Fair projects. You will have a few more days of school time to work on your displays before we start preparing for the fair itself.
  • Remember about the due dates for your Reading Response Journals.

9-29

  • Remember that you can talk to me if you are not happy with your mark on an assignment so that we can discuss where you went wrong and how you can improve. Even though I am laid back I have high standards and expectations for you.
  • For Monday please have the majority if not all of the research done for the Captain Canuck project so that we can begin putting it together.
